Yellow Moong Dal Tadka




























One cup of steamy dal with rice...my idea of comfort food.

This is a very simple, easy to make recipe from Edible Garden. Requires almost no preparation..very very easy to make and very comforting in its taste.

What you would need -

Yellow moong dal - 3/4 cup
Green Chillies - 3 slit lengthwise
Tomato - 1/2
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt as per taste

For Tadka

Oil - 1tblsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Jeera - 1tsp
Red chillies - 2
Curry leaves - 5 - 6
Hing / asafoetida - a pinch
Ginger - 1/2tsp

Procedure -

Wash the yellow moong dal thoroughly. Pressure cook the dal with green chillies, tomato, turmeric and 2 cups of water for 3 whistles.

Heat oil in a pan. Add the ingredients for tadka in the same order as mentioned above. Add the cooked dal and mix well. Add more water (if required) to get the desired consistency.

Serve hot with rice or enjoy a cup of hot dal with some ghee on top of it.
